Nollywood actress Idia Aisien has opened up about her painful dating experiences — revealing how some of the men she once loved allegedly took her money and later broke her heart.
In an emotional sit-down with media personality Toke Makinwa, the actress could not hold back tears as she recounted how she financially supported some of her ex-boyfriends who claimed their businesses were struggling.
According to Idia, because she was dating with the intention of marriage, she felt it was important to help the men she loved when they were facing tough times.
“I used to give men money. They would say their business was bad and I would give them a couple of million,” she revealed during the conversation.
However, the generosity she showed did not always end well.
The actress narrated one shocking incident where a man she supported financially allegedly used the money for something completely different.
Idia said after giving him money meant to support his business, the man suddenly became unreachable and claimed his phone was faulty. She later discovered he had traveled abroad — not for business — but with another woman.
“There was this guy I gave money to. His phone suddenly wasn’t going through and he said it had issues. Later, my brother told me he saw my boyfriend with another girl abroad. I didn’t believe it until he sent me a picture,” she recounted.
The revelation left her devastated, especially after realizing the money she had given him had allegedly been used to fly another woman business class to Dubai.
During the discussion, Toke Makinwa strongly disagreed with the idea of financially supporting a boyfriend who is not a husband or fiancé.
“You don’t have a ring on your finger, so that man’s destiny has nothing to do with you. If it’s up, down, sideways — that’s his business,” Toke said bluntly.
Toke added that while she can motivate a partner emotionally, her money would never be involved unless there is a deeper commitment.
Despite the painful experiences, Idia’s story has sparked conversations online about financial boundaries in relationships and whether partners should support each other financially before marriage.
For many fans, the actress’s candid confession is yet another reminder that love and money can sometimes be a dangerous mix.
