Hudson Joseph Meek, the talented young actor known for his role in the 2017 film ‘Baby Driver’, has tragically passed away at the age of 16. The heartbreaking incident occurred on December 19 in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, when Hudson fell from a moving vehicle. He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, where he sadly passed away two days later.
Hudson’s family expressed their grief in a heartfelt statement: “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”
Hudson began his acting career at a young age and quickly captured audiences with his talent. In addition to his standout role in ‘Baby Driver’, he appeared in notable projects such as the CW’s ‘Legacies’, Hulu’s ‘Genius’, and NBC’s ‘Found’. His family shared that he has additional projects set to release in 2025, ensuring his work and passion will live on.
Outside of acting, Hudson was a vibrant and accomplished teenager. A sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, he played football, sang in the honor choir, and was an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He was also a certified open water scuba diver and had the rare achievement of traveling to all 50 U.S. states.
Hudson’s passing is an immense loss to his family, friends, and the entertainment industry. To honor his memory, the Meek family has established the Hudson J. Meek Memorial Scholarship, which will be awarded annually to a student at Vestavia Hills High School.
Though his time was short, Hudson’s impact will be felt for years to come through his work, his talents, and the love he shared with those around him.
