Ghanaian media personality, Nana Aba Anamoah, has openly criticized the arrogance and dismissive attitudes of officials under the previous Akufo-Addo-led government while evaluating the first year of President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.

Speaking with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM, Nana Aba was asked to assess the performance of the Mahama-led government, one year after it took over from the NPP. While giving the current administration a rating of 75–80%, she drew a sharp contrast with the behavior she observed under the previous government.

She criticized  what she described as dismissive attitudes toward journalists and members of the public, arguing that certain utterances on radio and public platforms reflected a lack of humility.

“During the last three to four years under the previous NPP government, things were turbulent. There was too much arrogance. You could clearly see it from some of the statements made on radio, the dismissive attitude towards journalists, their commentaries… it was just arrogant. It was very arrogant,” she stated.

In contrast, the broadcaster highlighted that President Mahama’s team has demonstrated humility, responsiveness, and accessibility. She praised several appointees, including the Gender Minister, the Foreign Minister, and Obuobia Darko-Opoku, for being attentive, proactive, and engaged in their roles.

“His appointees are now careful and work hard by showing up when they are needed,” she noted.

Her comments link directly to her overall positive assessment of the Mahama administration, particularly regarding economic stabilization and improved governance. Nana Aba emphasized that the current government’s approach, marked by respect and responsiveness, reflects lessons learned from past shortcomings during President Mahama’s first term in office.

Touching on President Mahama’s return to office, she described his second term as “a great one,” adding that he appears to have learned valuable lessons from his first administration between 2012 and 2017. While acknowledging that the previous term had challenges, largely linked to certain appointees rather than the President personally, she believes the current administration reflects growth, caution, and greater accountability.
