Fifteen-time major champion Tiger Woods has announced he will step away from golf indefinitely to focus on his health following a recent car crash in Jupiter Island.
The 50-year-old golfer was arrested on March 27 after his vehicle flipped onto its side while attempting to overtake a trailer turning into a driveway on South Beach Road, near his residence.
Authorities reported that Woods appeared “lethargic and slow” with bloodshot eyes at the scene. Officers also discovered two pills of Hydrocodone in his pocket. He was charged with driving under the influence, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test after declining a urinalysis, although he passed a breath test confirming no alcohol in his system. Woods later said he was distracted by his phone and adjusting the radio when the incident occurred.

Woods has pleaded not guilty and requested a jury trial, with his arraignment scheduled for April 23 in Martin County. In a statement, the 82-time PGA Tour winner said he understands the seriousness of the situation and will step away from competition, including missing The Masters, as he seeks treatment and works toward recovery.
