The Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, John Dumelo, has described the Tree Crops Diversification Project (TCDP) as a game changer in Ghana’s agricultural sector. He made the remarks when he represented the Sector Minister, Hon. Eric Opoku, as guest speaker at the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA) Strategic Board Meeting.

In his address, Hon. Dumelo emphasized that the TCDP aligns with the Feed Ghana initiative of President John Dramani Mahama by driving sustainability, value addition, and food security. He stressed the need to transform the six selected tree crops beyond raw commodity exports—particularly cashew, rubber, and coconut—into value-added products that would supply raw materials to boost local industries.

The Chief Executive Officer and Board Secretary of TCDA, Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, presented the Authority’s strategic focus and Vision 2030, anchored on four key pillars: credibility, expansion, visibility, and enforcement.

Board Chairman Prof. William Oduro underscored the importance of collaboration across the value chain to achieve TCDA’s 2030 targets of efficiency and global competitiveness.

Also addressing the gathering, Dr. Ashwini Sebastian, Task Team Leader of the Tree Crops Diversification Project, reaffirmed the project’s readiness to transform not only the Authority but Ghana’s agricultural sector at large.

The meeting was graced by the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, who commended TCDA’s commitment to building a sustainable and competitive tree crops industry for Ghana’s future.
