Gloria Owusu

Gloria Owusu, Member of Parliament for Trobu, faces criticism over alleged remarks during campaigning for today’s Ablekuma North rerun.

Unverified claims circulating on social media suggest Owusu linked the NDC’s electoral efforts to President Mahama seeking an “absolute majority” for constitutional changes and LGBTQI+ legalization.

The Electoral Commission has not commented on these assertions, maintaining focus on today’s vote across 19 polling stations to resolve the constituency’s seven-month parliamentary vacancy.

Security forces remain deployed to ensure orderly proceedings between NPP’s Akua Afriyie and NDC’s Ewurabena Aubynn.

Political analysts caution against unsubstantiated narratives, noting Ghana’s constitution limits presidential terms and requires broad consensus for amendments.

The rerun proceeds under strict EC oversight, with 6,836 voters eligible to participate.
