
Ghanas Black Princesses captain Linda Owusu Ansah is confident the team can finally break their long-standing barrier at the FIFA U20 Womens World Cup by securing a place in the knockout stage for the first time.The Black Princesses are set to make their eighth consecutive appearance at the global tournament after overcoming Uganda in a two-legged qualifying tie in May.Owusu Ansah was instrumental in Ghanas qualification, producing a moment of individual brilliance in the second leg in Kampala. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder found the back of the net with a superb free-kick to help the Black Princesses seal their ticket to the tournament.Ghana have been drawn in Group C alongside Ecuador, France and Korea Republic, setting up a demanding group-stage campaign for the African side.Despite the quality of opposition awaiting them in Poland, Owusu Ansah believes Ghana have the togetherness and determination required to make a deep run in the competition.We have high hopes we can reach the knockout stage this time round because I saw the resilience we showed during the qualifiers and how together we play as a team. I feel if we can continue with the same spirit, we can go far in the World Cup, she said.The Black Princesses have consistently featured at the U20 Womens World Cup but are yet to progress beyond the group stage, making qualification for the knockout phase one of their major objectives at this years tournament.The team will therefore head into the competition determined to turn their experience from previous campaigns into tangible progress on the international stage.The 2026 FIFA U20 Womens World Cup is scheduled to be held in Poland from September 5 to 27, with Ghana hoping to make history by advancing beyond the group stage for the first time.
