The 67th University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (UGSRC), led by Maradona Yeboah Agyei, popularly known as Guru, has officially launched the *Light Up UG* initiative by installing 30 streetlights.
The project aims to improve safety across the Legon main campus, as well as the City and Korle Bu campuses.
The *Light Up UG* initiative is designed to address long-standing lighting issues on these campuses, which have raised safety concerns among students.
This development follows Guru’s comments in March 2025 regarding the malfunctioning traffic lights at the Okponglo junction, which have reportedly contributed to accidents involving students.
