A 21-year-old Ghanaian convicted robber and drill rapper has gone on the run after escaping police custody at University Hospital Lewisham on Sunday afternoon (February 15).

Daniel Boakye, who performs under the name DSAVV, fled from officers at around 3pm while receiving medical treatment. Despite a foot chase, police were unable to detain him before he exited the building. He had previously absconded days earlier after being arrested at an address in Thamesmead.

Boakye later appeared to taunt authorities in a social media video, rapping along to a new track with news coverage of his escape displayed behind him. In the footage, he references breaking out of jail and criticises the police and government, suggesting the clip may have been recorded after his escape. He was last seen wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a dark Nike jacket, and is described as a Black man of medium height and slim build.

Court records show Boakye was jailed in July 2023 for a string of knifepoint robberies across London, where victims were threatened and forced to hand over phones and passcodes, enabling money to be stolen from their accounts. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed officers are reviewing the circumstances of the escape, adding that the Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed as the search continues.
