A powerful wave of support is building for Ghana legend Andr Ayew to earn a place in the Ghana national football team squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following his impressive resurgence at NAC Breda.
The iconic Ghanaian forward has begun to make his presence felt in the Eredivisie, scoring his first goal for NAC Breda in a thrilling 33 draw against Dutch giants Feyenoord.
Ayew rose highest to deliver a trademark header, putting NAC Breda 32 ahead during the pulsating encounter and marking a significant milestone since joining the club during the January 2026 transfer window.
A remarkable return after six months away
The goal was particularly meaningful for the former Olympique de Marseille captain, who returned to competitive football after nearly six months without a club. Since his arrival in the Netherlands, Ayew has quickly established himself as an influential figure within the squad.
He has already made nine appearances, including four starts, demonstrating both his fitness and his value to the team.
But Ayews impact goes far beyond statistics.
Leadership transforming NAC Breda
Inside the dressing room and on the pitch, the veteran forwards leadership, professionalism and experience have injected renewed belief into the NAC Breda squad.
Teammates and coaching staff alike have praised the Ghanaian star for the positive influence he has brought to the clubs mentality during a difficult period.
The numbers highlight the transformation.
Before Ayews arrival, NAC Breda had scored just 16 goals in 18 league matches. Since January, the team has found the net 12 times in only seven games, signalling a sharp attacking improvement.
The clubs fortunes have also improved in terms of results. NAC Breda have lost only two of their last eight matches, and with Ayew in the starting lineup, the team has recorded back-to-back victories after previously enduring a nightmare run of 11 consecutive defeats.

The former Swanse City and Marseille star man is increasingly becoming a mentor figure within the squad, guiding younger teammates and helping restore confidence within the team.
His influence reflects the qualities that have defined his career – leadership, resilience and a winning mentality.

Ayews resurgence has inevitably reignited debate about his potential return to the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 World Cup in North America.
While opinions remain divided among fans and pundits, there is a strong and growing groundswell of support for the experienced forward to be included in coach Otto Addos final 26-man squad for the global tournament.
Supporters argue that Ayews leadership, tournament experience and current form could prove invaluable in guiding Ghanas younger generation on footballs biggest stage.
