‎Veep Opoku-Agyemang Leads Gov’t Delegation to One-Week Celebration of Late Asantehemaa

The Vice President of Ghana, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has paid her respects to the late Queen Mother of Asanteman, Nana Konadu Yiadom, by attending the one-week celebration ceremony at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

‎Upon arrival, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang signed the book of condolences on behalf of the Government of Ghana, paying tribute to the revered royal figure who passed away on August 7, 2025.

‎The Vice President was accompanied by notable figures, including Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah; Chief of Staff at the Office of the Vice President, Alex Segbefia; National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah; General Secretary, Fiifi Kwetey; Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank  Amoakohene; Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim; former Finance Minister, Seth Terkper; other government officials and party executives.

‎Prof. Opoku-Agyemang later paid homage to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and conveyed the government’s heartfelt sympathies to the royal family and the people of Asanteman.

‎In support of the one-week observance, the Vice President presented a cash donation, 150 cartons of bottled water, 50 cartons of drinks, and other essential items on behalf of the government.

‎The ceremony drew a large gathering of traditional rulers, government officials, dignitaries, and thousands of sympathizers who came to pay their respects to the late Queen Mother.

‎The final funeral arrangements for the late Queen Mother are expected to be announced in the coming days.
