The Vice President of Ghana, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has paid her respects to the late Queen Mother of Asanteman, Nana Konadu Yiadom, by attending the one-week celebration ceremony at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
Upon arrival, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang signed the book of condolences on behalf of the Government of Ghana, paying tribute to the revered royal figure who passed away on August 7, 2025.
The Vice President was accompanied by notable figures, including Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah; Chief of Staff at the Office of the Vice President, Alex Segbefia; National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah; General Secretary, Fiifi Kwetey; Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene; Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim; former Finance Minister, Seth Terkper; other government officials and party executives.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang later paid homage to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and conveyed the government’s heartfelt sympathies to the royal family and the people of Asanteman.
In support of the one-week observance, the Vice President presented a cash donation, 150 cartons of bottled water, 50 cartons of drinks, and other essential items on behalf of the government.
The ceremony drew a large gathering of traditional rulers, government officials, dignitaries, and thousands of sympathizers who came to pay their respects to the late Queen Mother.
The final funeral arrangements for the late Queen Mother are expected to be announced in the coming days.
