Ghanaian international Jordan Ayew scored his debut goal for Leicester City, helping them secure a 4-0 win over Tranmere in the second round of the Carabao Cup at the King Power Stadium.
Ayew, who recently joined Leicester from Crystal Palace, opened the scoring in the 38th minute with a brilliant strike from outside the box, giving the Foxes a narrow lead at halftime.
Leicester made eight changes from their weekend defeat to Fulham, and it took some time for them to find their rhythm. However, their Premier League quality shone through in the second half.
Stephy Mavididi doubled the lead in the 51st minute, converting a penalty after Ricardo Pereira was fouled in the box.
Wilfred Ndidi added a third goal, finishing from close range after a clever flick from Ayew. Harry Winks sealed the victory with a powerful shot from the edge of the box, giving Leicester a dominant win and their new manager Steve Cooper his first competitive victory in charge.
The match was marked by a minute’s applause in memory of former Leicester manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, who passed away on Monday.
