Vivo Energy Ghana, in partnership with Nivaansh Mediqas Ghana LTD has donated medical equipment to the Department of Child Health at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital as part of its 2026 Energizing Hope initiative.

The Valentine-season outreach, dubbed Energizing Hope 2026, is a staff-driven corporate social responsibility programme that seeks to spread love and support to underserved communities.

Christian Li, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana, said the gesture reflects the company’s broader purpose beyond commercial operations.

“At Vivo Energy, we are not here only to do business. We are good corporate citizens. Valentine’s Day is coming and it’s the month or the day of love. So we also want to express our love. Caring is one of our values and this is for us to also show how we care for the communities,” he said.

He said the focus on children reflects the company’s desire to ease the burden on sick young patients by equipping the department to deliver safer, more effective care.

“We’ve chosen the kids because I think the kids need lots of love and it’s always painful to see kids not in good health. So this is part of our contribution to share some equipment to the Department of Child Health here, so that they can get better health,” he revealed.

According to Mr. Li, his outfit donated a syringe pump and an infusion device. He explained that the equipment is critical because it automatically delivers precise medication doses to children.

He added that the company is proud to support the department and will continue engaging to identify further needs and areas where it can assist.

He further indicated that the company is open to supporting possible refurbishment works within the department and mobilising broader support through its Shell network.

“This is just to show what we’ve started with the department and we are working with the department to see more because we also now learn that there are some refurbishment of the department that they also want. So we will go together on that and, maybe, bring our whole Shell network to see how we can collect funds for the hospital,” he concluded.

Head of Marketing and Sales at Nivaansh Mediqas Ghana Limited, Sunita Kaul, said the collaboration demonstrates shared responsibility toward society.

“Today on behalf of Nivaansh Mediqas Gana Limited, we sincerely congratulate Vivo Energy Ghana for the meaningful initiative they have taken. It’s not just a donation, it’s about the responsibility toward society. As a healthcare solution, we believe business success comes hand-in-hand with impact on society,” she stated.

Mrs. Kaul added: “as a solution provider, we can support them by installing the instrument, giving the proper instruments; plus we can give services, 24-hour services in solution.”

Receiving the items, Dr. Enestina Shandoff, Paediatric Oncologist at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, thanked Vivo Energy and its partners for the support.

“First of all I would like to thank Vivo Energy and the entire staff for this donation because it really means a lot for the department and for the children that we take care of. It’s not just the gifts but even the presence, especially during hard times like these when the children get to spend holidays in the hospital; so we are really grateful,”she said.

She explained that ideally, each critically ill child requires a dedicated device to ensure accurate medication delivery.

“The donation of the infusers and perfuser usually are very vital equipment that are required to give exact doses to children, especially children who are very ill. Ideally, you need one perfuser – at least – for every child to make sure that every child gets the exact dose of medication that they need; so this goes a long way to help,” she mentioned.

Dr. Shandoff noted that although more equipment is still required, the donation provides a strong starting point, particularly for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Emergency Unit, where such devices are mostly needed.

She also expressed appreciation for the company’s decision to prioritise child health, stressing that children represent the nation’s future but are often overlooked in policy considerations. She said the department is grateful to those who remember and support them during a season centred on love and care.
