Jamaican dancehall icon Vybz Kartel is setting his sights on Africa, announcing plans to visit the continent for the first time later this year.

In an interview on Shani Kulture on Hot 97 FM, the artiste spoke with excitement about the long-anticipated trip, describing Africa as the “headquarters” and a place of deep cultural roots. Beyond the symbolism, Kartel is also eager for the experience.

From music to food, he hinted at immersing himself in the culture, singling out the famous jollof rice as one dish he is particularly keen to try when he arrives in the “motherland.”

The visit could also align with new music, as Kartel revealed he has an unreleased track with Nigerian music star Davido, expected to drop soon. The collaboration adds another layer of anticipation, linking Caribbean dancehall with Afrobeats on a global stage.

Although he didn’t specify which countries he will visit, Ghana is widely tipped as a likely destination. Kartel has long spoken highly of the country and shares a strong bond with Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale, making it one of the most anticipated stops on his first-ever African tour.
