Black Queens midfielder Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah has lauded her teammates following their qualification to the quarterfinals in the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament.
Ghana, after a tough start to the tournament, wrapped up their group phase games with a resounding 4-1 win against Tanzania on Monday night at the Stade Municipal de Berkane.
Goals from Princella Adubea, Alice Kusi, Evelyn Badu, and Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah sealed the win for the Black Queens to finish second in Group C.
After the game, Boye-Hlorkah expressed her gratitude and commended her teammates for the win.
“I am just proud, so proud of the girls. I try and lead. I am very vocal on the pitch. I try and push the team as much as I can. The girls picked me up, too,” she said.
“I told them that we are not going to win this game without playing as a team. I am so proud of Ghana, of the fans. I am so proud to be Ghanaian,” the England-born midfielder added.
The Black Queens will now shift their focus to the quarterfinals, where they will face Algeria on Saturday, July 19, at the Stade Municipal de Berkane. Kickoff is scheduled for 17:00 GMT.
