Today, multi-platinum DMV rapper Wale announces a special event, “Live in the District,” taking place over Juneteenth weekend at the Plaza Stage at Nationals Park. The two-day concert series will feature performances from Wale and friends, offering a one-of-a-kind showcase exclusively curated for the hip-hop star’s hometown of D.C.
With shows on June 20th and 21st, the performances are a meaningful addition to Wale’s 23-city everything is a lot. tour with genre-bending artist Smino. The event on Saturday, June 20th, will feature Smino and DMV-raised R&B singer Alex Vaughn; the event on Sunday, June 21st will feature Ghanaian-born, Maryland-based rapper Foggieraw, as well as the original members of legendary D.C. Gogo band UCB. The performance will mark the first time the original members will play together in over 14 years, while celebrating 20 years of their international classic “Sexy Lady.”
“Live in the District” kicks off Wale’s first outdoor summer show in D.C, signaling his largest hometown live property to date. The moment serves as a culmination of his continued investment in his local audience, building from a headlining performance at the Kennedy Center in 2023, followed by MGM Theater in 2024, and The Anthem in 2025 as part of his second annual Gifted Week. Alongside management company EQT, Wale launched Gifted Week in 2024 as a week-long event series honoring DMV community and culture.
Wale’s North American tour everything is… the tour commences this May off the heels of his highly anticipated eighth studio album, everything is a lot., released November 2025 via Def Jam. It stands as his most introspective and emotionally candid body of work to date, featuring a dynamic lineup of collaborators, including Odeal, Leon Thomas, Shaboozey, Ty Dolla $ign, Andra Day, and more. Across the project, Wale unpacks themes of love and loss, fame and fortune, mental health, and self-discovery, offering listeners a raw and reflective look at his evolution as both an artist and a person.
