The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has announced that the results for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be released by December 29, 2024.
Dr. Adutwum made this announcement after visiting the printing facility of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). The visit followed concerns over delays caused by a breakdown of scanners used for processing the results.
WAEC explained that financial challenges, including outstanding debts from the government, had made it difficult to repair or replace the faulty scanners, causing delays in the results release.
To address the issue, the Ministry of Education has allocated GH¢25 million to support WAEC in improving its operations.
During his visit, Dr. Adutwum expressed satisfaction with WAEC’s efforts and assured students and parents that the results would be ready on time.
“This morning, we visited WAEC, and I am confident that by December 29 or earlier, the results will be released. This will ensure universities can proceed with admissions for students to pursue their degree and diploma programs,” he said.
He also praised WAEC staff for their dedication, noting that they are working tirelessly, even during the holidays, to ensure the timely release of the results.
