Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare has expressed massive optimism regarding his side’s championship hopes after putting up a stellar performance to help the ‘Phobians’ secure a vital victory over eternal rivals Asante Kotoko.

The ‘Rainbow Club’ delivered a standout defensive masterclass to edge the ‘Kum Apem’ lads by a narrow 1-0 margin at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

It was a very explosive start to the game, but center-back Baba Adamu’s lone goal—a powerful header in the 14th minute following a pinpoint free-kick delivery—proved to be the difference between both sides after full-time.

Despite consistent pressure from the home side, Asare remained a rock between the sticks, making several crucial saves to ensure the three points headed back to Accra.

In a post-match presser, the enterprising goalkeeper admitted that while the race for the ultimate trophy is a very difficult task, the squad is highly motivated to go the distance.

“Although we have gotten the victory today, the Ghana Premier League is not easy. Our goal-scoring ability has been low, but in this match, we were determined to get a win. I will continue to do my job whenever I’m in post,” Asare said.

Hearts of Oak have now jumped further up to the third place on the league log following this crunchy win and will look to maintain this stellar momentum and will host Berekum Chelsea next.
