Residents of Appolonia in the Kpone Katamanso district in the Greater Accra region claimed they are unsafe following the invasion of the area by heavily armed police officers and people suspected to be operatives of the National Security to protect the activities of deadly landguards in the area.

They claimed the heavily armed officers led by one Inspector Lutakor invaded the area in a tilted black Landcruiser with a registration No. NR. 11 47- 16 to provide protection to some notorious landguards to work on a disputed land.

Eyewitnesses of the scary incident said there was a near clash between some angry residents of the area and the deadly armed officers who threatened to open fire on the angry residents if they dared to…

According to one of the eyewitnesses, one Musah Salifu, Inspector Lutakor told the residents that they were sent by a top police officer from the police Headquarters to come and assist the known landguards led by one Moses Abusah to take possession of the disputed land.

Our sources noted that police officers from the Oyibi district police station were called in, the leader of the deadly squad refused to listen to them claiming they had powerful connections in the office of the presidency and that no superior police officer of the service could touch them.

The residents also alleged that the leader of the landguards, Moses Abussah, who were also, armed to the teeth, issued stern warning that he and his men will unleash mayhem on the residents if they further resist their operations in the area.

They alleged that the leader of the landguards boasted openly that he had the Jubilee House, the office of the Presidency, in his pocket and that nobody can arrest him or any of his members for any reason.

The land in dispute, according to some of the residents who spoke to this portal, belongs to one Madam Grace Ocloo of Marrace properties but was being disputed by another person in the area.

They said they were however surprised that the leader of the landguards came from nowhere and is now claiming ownership of the same and sold portions out to unsuspecting developers with such impunity.

According to our sources at the Property Fraud Unit of the Ghana Police Service at the Headquarters, the issue was investigated by the officers of the Unit who found that the said land rightfully belonged to Madam Grace Ocloo of Marrace properties.

Our sources at the Unit further told us that the docket was closed on the disputed land and the Unit urged any person claiming ownership of the same land to proceed to court to have the matter resolved.

Some of the residents said they are now living in constant fear since the landguards are getting the backing of some top police officers to carry on their barbaric activities in the area and called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to heighten security in the area.

They also called on the IGP to fish out those rogue police officers and sanction them accordingly to deter other officers from engaging in such misconduct that consistently questions the professionalism in the police service.
