The Presidential Candidate of the NPP Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has courted the support of special voters who will cast their ballot tomorrow to vote for him to consolidate the gains made in the last eight years.
In a message to the security services and the media who will be taking part in the special voting exercise scheduled for December 2, Dr Bawumia said government has invested heavily in the security services, recruiting more personnel to reduce the pressure and providing the needed resources to enhance their work among other initiatives. He applauded the security services and the media for their contribution to the society.
“To you, our brave men and women in uniform, and to our media friends, and all those of you who pay your duties are partaking in the special voting exercise. I come to you with a special appeal for your support and vote in this election. Your dedication has not gone unnoticed”.
Dr Bawumia outlined some investment made for the security services.
“We inherited a security sector facing numerous challenges, from internal disputes to a stretched thin workforce. The need for comprehensive reform was clear. We have significantly bolstered the ranks across our security agencies. The Ghana Police Service now boasts over 46,000 officers, almost 13,000 more than we inherited. The fire service personnel count has doubled to 15,000.
“Our prison service and immigration service have seen similar growth in numbers. We have massively upgraded your tools and infrastructure. Over 900 vehicles and three helicopters have been added to the police service, and state-of-the-art surveillance systems, including over 11,000 cameras, have been deployed across the country. We have also improved living conditions with new barracks and housing units for personnel”.
Dr Bawumia mentioned some of the strides made.
“We have resolved critical issues such as the Dabon chieftaincy dispute, restoring peace and setting a precedent for handling similar conflicts but our vision extends far beyond what has been done. We are looking ahead to construct forward operating bases to enhance your work, further increase our personnel by 20,000. Expand surveillance with 50,000 additional
cameras”.
Dr. Bawumia intimated that his presidency will equip the security services with tools to expand their surveillance. He is therefore appealing to the security to give him the nod to continue with the good works.
To the media, Dr Bawumia said the passage of the the Rights To Information Bill attests to the fact that government recognises the critical role the media plays in the society. He urged the media to vote for him.
“Our commitment to you and to all Ghanaians is unwavering. For our media, we have created a conducive atmosphere for you to thrive. We introduced a Right to Information Act. We have expanded broadband and internet services across the country and introduced the University of Media Arts and Communications. With the introduction of 5G services in Ghana, your work is even going to thrive better.
Dr Bawumia also outlined his vision for the country and the policies he intends to introduce when given the nod.
“Our commitment is to create a business-friendly environment. By implementing a flat tax system, offering tax amnesty to drive growth, and linking our natural resources such as gold to our exchange rate, we will enable the private sector to lead the way in building our infrastructure.”
“I have an unwavering commitment to provide affordable and quality health care to every citizen of our beloved nation
