Social media users have slammed outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over his decision to pardon some hardened criminals before he leaves office.
In one of his final acts as President, Nana Addo handed out pardons to several individuals, including William Ato Essien, the former CEO of Capital Bank.
Essien was jailed for embezzling bailout funds the Bank of Ghana made available to the then-struggling bank and later failing to refund it. After serving only one year out of a 15-year sentence, the President has pardoned him to the chagrin of Ghanaians.
Other people pardoned include a murderer on death row and other hardened criminals.

Another wrote: “There’s a guy somewhere serving 10years jail term for stealing a goat or something little but…. Okay!!!”
