Renowned Sports journalist Saddick Addams has wondered what purpose the annual publication of the Auditor-General’s Report serves since persons and entities found to have engaged in financial malfeasance go scot-free. For him, the publication only irritates Ghanaians only for malfeasance to persist.

He asserted that corruption is the single biggest threat to our very existence.

“Every year, the Auditor General’s Report is published just to leave us doing eii eiii eii and then go back to sleep, to wait for a more eii eii eii the following year. If you read about the amount of money that’s gone down the drain in a single year, your heart begins to wrench.

Why do they even publish this to irritate us just for perpetrators to go back home and a new set of thieves come on?

Corruption is the single biggest threat to our very existence,” he said.

The 2020 Auditor General’s Report has uncovered many cases of financial malfeasance by many Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

At the Electricity Company of Ghana(ECG) for example, the Auditor-General revealed that between 2014 and 2016, the company procured prepaid meters and conductors worth over GH¢59million.

The about 265 meters and conductors are still locked up in the company’s warehouse.
