However, sections of the public have questioned his readiness for footballs biggest stage, arguing that he has not been tested enough at the highest level.Speaking to Citi Sports, Schaefer said the coaching staffs decision was based on performance and not sentiment.”We watched matches, and we said we need a goalkeeper, and it was Benjamin Asare,” Schaefer stated. “But we have to compliment the goalkeepers coach, Fatau Dauda, for the work hes done.”Asare is expected to make the squad for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, though his position as Ghanas undisputed number one will depend on form and competition leading up to the tournament.The Black Stars will discover their group stage opponents on December 5, 2025, when the World Cup draw is held in Washington, D.C.
