The Assistant Administrator of the Winneba Technical Institute, Stephen Yaw Asare, says punitive measures will be taken against the students brandishing ‘weapons’ in a viral video.
This follows widespread public condemnation of the disturbing footage, which features about 10 students engaging in an initiation ceremony for a cult group.
The video, recorded on campus, depicts students wielding knives, scissors, and other offensive implements while discussing themes of revenge. In light of the serious nature of the incident, the school has initiated an investigation to identify all individuals involved.
Speaking to Channel One TV on Tuesday, May 20, the Institute’s Assistant Administrator noted that, “Regardless of whatever circumstance, since our name is almost going viral in line with negativity, we still have to apply our rules by trying to met out whatever punishment they deserve so as to serve as a deterrent to others.”
He also indicated that parents of the students have been invited for discussions.
“Having spoken to them at the principal’s office, we finally concluded that we have to invite their parents of the children come Thursday we will meet the parents of the students and also tell them.”
In response to the uproar, Asare, on behalf of the school, assured the public that the school will take every needed action.
