Tension flared at the Mamprobi Polyclinic after a baby thief stole a newborn baby from the health facility.

According to sources familiar with the incident, the suspect is said to have taken advantage of a moment when the baby’s mother, who had undergone a caesarean section, was fast asleep after delivery.

The woman allegedly sneaked into the ward and quietly picked up the baby without drawing attention.

CCTV footage from the hospital premises captured the suspect leaving the facility with the infant wrapped in cloth.

The video, which has since surfaced on social media, shows the woman calmly walking out of the hospital grounds with the covered baby.

The development triggered outrage within the Mamprobi community, with some residents reportedly rushing to the facility to demand answers from hospital authorities.

The case has been formally reported to the Mamprobi Police, who have commenced investigations into the matter.

Authorities are expected to review CCTV recordings and question hospital staff as part of efforts to apprehend the suspect and recover the baby.

Meanwhile, concerns have been raised about security measures at health facilities, particularly maternity wards, with many calling for stricter protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future.

As investigations continue, residents and well-wishers are hoping for the safe return of the newborn and swift justice in the case.
