A U.S. federal judge has sentenced Jasveen Sangha to 15 years in prison for supplying the ketamine that led to the death of actor Matthew Perry in 2023.

Delivering the sentence in a Los Angeles courtroom on Wednesday, Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett cited Sangha’s role in a broader drug distribution operation and her direct involvement in providing the drug that caused Perry’s fatal overdose. The judge told the 42-year-old she would “have to show some epic resilience,” referencing Sangha’s earlier remarks in court about working on self-improvement.

Perry, best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the hit NBC sitcom Friends, was found dead in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home in October 2023 at age 54. Medical examiners ruled that ketamine was the primary cause of death, with drowning listed as a secondary factor. In an emotional statement, Perry’s stepfather Keith Morrison told the court the family continues to live with “a daily, grinding sadness and sorrow,” adding that Perry “should have had another act. Two more acts.”

Sangha, who prosecutors described as a “Ketamine Queen” running a drug network for wealthy clients, pleaded guilty in September to multiple counts including distribution of ketamine resulting in death. Addressing the court before sentencing, she said she carries her guilt “like a jacket,” admitting that her actions “were not mistakes” but “horrible decisions” that shattered many lives. Prosecutors argued her years of dealing and large client network made her the most culpable among the five defendants linked to the case.
