The organizers of Ghana’s Women in Worship concert, Genet Services, are preparing to take legal action against Nigerian gospel singer Ada Ehi after her failure to attend the event on Sunday, September 22, 2024, despite receiving a partial payment of $5,000.

Ada Ehi had been slated to perform alongside fellow Nigerian artist Mercy Chinwo and Ghanaian gospel icons Empress Gifty and Diana Hamilton, who headlined the concert. However, according to Nana Asare, Media and Communications head for Women in Worship, there were issues from the start with Ehi’s team, particularly concerning her performance fee.

In an interview with Feeling Daddy on Empire FM’s Showbiz Today, Asare recounted, challenges began early with Ehi’s team, especially regarding her fee. Originally booked for $8,000, Ada’s manager later raised the fee to $10,000 after promotional materials had already been released. Genet Services agreed to the increase but soon faced communication issues and difficulty coordinating her travel. Despite booking a €4,700 round-trip flight from London to Ghana, Ada missed her flight and her team insisted on a new round-trip booking, which the organizers declined due to cost.

Ada’s band arrived in Ghana, attended rehearsals, and stayed in an Airbnb provided by Genet Services. However, they left the accommodation unexpectedly without notifying the organizers, adding to the complications. Attempts to resolve the situation failed when Ada’s team refused to refund the initial payment, citing it as “expenditure.” Genet Services now plans to pursue legal action to recover their financial losses, contrasting Ada’s approach with the cooperative efforts of other artists like Empress Gifty, who performed without a fee, and Mercy Chinwo, who handled a missed flight without additional demands.
