Ghanaian singer King Paluta has raised concerns over the treatment of artistes by music streaming platform BoomPlay.
The “Aseda” hitmaker expressed frustration after being listed sixth on the platform’s “Most Streamed Artists” from January to March, claiming that despite high streaming numbers, local artistes are not receiving fair payments.
Yes, but no money !
You people are taking us for granted and it’s sooo wrong ! @BoomplayMusic !!! https://t.co/rUsWHwdrY8— Asuo Dɛɛfuo (@KingPalutaMusic) April 7, 2026
Paluta’s criticism reflects a broader concern among Ghanaian musicians about the lack of transparency and low payouts from streaming services. Many artistes argue that while their music generates significant streams, the financial rewards do not match the exposure.
The issue has drawn attention from regulators in the past. Last year, twin music duo Lali x Lola appealed to Ghana’s Communications Ministry, urging an investigation into BoomPlay’s practices and calling for better compensation for local artistes.
