Zebilla legislator Ebenezer Alumire Ndebilla has exposed critical flaws in Ghana’s much-touted One Village One Dam (1V1D) program, revealing most structures are mere seasonal dug-outs that dry up within weeks after rainfall.
The MP’s damning assessment aligns with former Special Development Initiatives Minister Hawa Koomson’s admission that the allocated GH₵250,000 per dam proved grossly inadequate for meaningful water projects.
Launched by the previous NPP administration to boost dry-season farming, the initiative has instead left rural communities with unreliable water sources that evaporate rapidly.
Ndebilla’s revelations confirm longstanding concerns about substandard implementation of the flagship agricultural policy, raising questions about resource allocation and oversight in rural development projects.
