Ghana’s Zinabu Issah has made history by winning the country’s first medal at the 2026 World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai.
Competing in the Women’s Discus Throw F57 event, Zinabu clinched silver with an impressive 29.2-meter throw, solidifying her status as Ghana’s leading para athlete.
In 2025, Issah set a national record of 29.25 meters at the Marrakech Grand Prix, signaling her consistency at the top level. Her performance in Dubai confirms her ongoing excellence and dedication.
This achievement also boosts Issah’s chances for direct qualification to the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
Alongside Issahaku, Ghana’s para athletics contingent in Dubai includes seasoned wheelchair racer Botsyo Nkegbe and newcomer Hayford Addai, reflecting Ghana’s growing presence and ambition in the sport.
