18 top-class cyclists from the United Kingdom, USA, and the Middle East have arrived in Ghana to compete for laurels in a bid to raise funds to support the Vida Cycling Program, Tokunbo Ajasa-Oluwa, founder of Black Unity Bike Ride has confirmed.

Facilitated by the Gladiators Cycling Club, the UK-based Black Unity Bike Ride is in Ghana with the aim of raising GHS130,000 for a very worthy cause named Vida Cycling Program.

The Black Unity Bike Ride has three values; Unity, Empowerment, and Love, and has demonstrated these values by flying to the West African nation to help support the cause of the Vida Cycling Program which is an NGO for aspiring female cyclists based in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The special ride tour, which commences on the 15th of April 2023, consists of 500km of cycling across four days and destinations include Cape Coast, Assin Manso, Takoradi, and Akosombo.

Ajasa-Oluwa told Accra-based Asempa FM about the reason why his organisation is in Ghana to support the Vida Cycling Program.

The VCP was founded by Vida Juliet Vivie as a grassroots program dedicated to making cycling opportunities accessible to young women.

Meanwhile, the Black Unity Bike Ride is a UK charity initiative that began in 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. BUBR aims to encourage more Black people to enjoy cycling and prioritise their health and well-being.
