NIGERIA – The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old housewife, Aisha Musa, for attempting to unaliving her husband by poisoning his food 40 days after their wedding.

The spokesperson for the command, SP Nafiu Habib, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, August 13, 2026, said the incident occurred in Gwamma village, Bauchi Local Government Area of the state.

According to the PPRO, the suspect mixed a poisonous substance into her husband’s meal on August 12.

Habib said a distress call was received from an anonymous woman, prompting officers to immediately mobilise to the scene.

The victim was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he is receiving treatment.

“The Bauchi State Police Command wishes to inform the general public of the arrest of Aisha Musa, a 19-year-old housewife, for allegedly attempting to poison her husband, name withheld, in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area,” the statement read.

“Accordingly, on 12th August, 2026 at about 1515hrs, the suspect, who is said to be a bride of about 40 days, allegedly introduced a poisonous substance into her husband’s meal.

“Subsequently, at about 1940hrs on the same day, a distress call was received from anonymous lady residing at Wunti Dada Area, Bauchi, reporting the incident to the Police.
