2023 AFCON: Deputy Sports Minister says Ghana can make an impact

Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Evans Bobie Opoku has expressed optimisim in Ghana’s chances of impressing in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be held in Ivory Coast next year.

The Black Stars sealed their place after coming from behind to beat the Central African Republic (CAR) 2-1 on Thursday at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Despite the success in qualification, a lot of Ghanaians have expressed their dissatisfaction with the performances predicting the difficulty the team could encounter should they not improve upon their performance.

Hon. Bobie Opoku, however, believes Ghana have what it takes to succeed at the tournament.

“It was very difficult but at the end we managed to secure qualification. I believe the technical team will assess the team and make the necessary corrections going into next year’s Afcon so we can have a formidable team,” he told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.

“With Good preparations and rectifying some few technical mistakes in our team, I believe strongly that we can make a very good impact at AFCON 2023.”

Ghana will be aiming to win their fifth AFCON title after their last triumph in 1982.
