Famous musician Black Sherif made history on Saturday night, September 3, 2023, by becoming the first Ghanaian artist to win the Best West African Artiste Of the Year award at the Headies Awards.
The Headies Awards, the biggest award ceremony that celebrates Afrobeats and African culture, was held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, USA.
One of the highlights of the event was undoubtedly when Black Sherif stepped up to the podium to accept his prize.
The reigning VGMA Artiste of the Year puzzled viewers with his actions after his acceptance speech. He started to approach a man who appeared to be a member of his management team but the man, clad in a white top signalled for him to leave.
Fans who watched the show were astounded by the gesture of the man. Even though he was wearing a laughing face, his demeanour raised the question of whether he was dismissing ‘The Villain I Never Was’’ rapper from the stage.
