FC Samartex forward Baba Musah Hamadu emphasized the team’s determination to stay focused as they prepare for the return leg of the 2024/25 CAF Champions League first preliminary round against Victoria United.

Despite securing a narrow 1-0 victory in the first leg, Hamadu insists they view the match as a defeat, motivating them to work harder for the upcoming encounter.

The Ghanaian champions experienced their first taste of the continent’s premier club competition last Sunday, where Emmanuel Mamah’s header in the 47th minute clinched the win.

Hamadu expressed that the team must maintain a serious mindset heading into the second leg, scheduled for Sunday, August 25, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

He acknowledged the challenges they faced in the first match and stressed the importance of delivering another strong performance to secure qualification for the next round.

“A 1-0 victory is a tricky one, no matter how elated we are as players. Therefore, we have resolved to perceive it as a defeat, entering the second leg fixture as wounded lions at the Accra Sports Stadium. We can only celebrate after progressing to the next stage of the competition.”

The Timber Giants aim to celebrate only after successfully advancing in the tournament, showcasing their commitment to making a significant impact on the continental stage.
