Mr. Francis Yao Agbemadi, the Volta Regional Education Director, advised the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates to remain calm and composed during their exams.

He assured the candidates that there is no need to be anxious about the papers, especially since this is their first time writing under the new standards-based curriculum. He emphasized the importance of carefully reading and understanding each question before answering.

The BECE begins on Monday, July 8, and will conclude on Monday, July 15. In the Volta Region, 29,316 candidates comprising 14,534 boys and 14,782 girls will write the exam.

These candidates come from 1,176 schools, including 866 public schools and 289 private schools across the region. The exams will be administered in 115 centers with the assistance of 977 invigilators.

Additionally, the region will accommodate 35 visually impaired candidates – 14 boys and 21 girls.

Mr. Agbemadi stressed the importance of providing these students with the necessary support to ensure a fair and equitable examination experience.
