Felicia Adei Sedinam Neequaye of Christ, The King International School in Cantonments, has been honoured with an Excellence Medal by Citi FM and Channel One TV for her outstanding performance in the 2024 Literacy Challenge.
In an interview with Channel One News, Felicia shared her unwavering determination to win the top prize. “It has been overwhelming. Everyone wants me to spend all my time preparing. So I am doing my best, and I hope to bring the trophy home,” she said, inspiring others with her commitment.
Citi FM and Channel One TV have been visiting schools to award the top ten contestants medals.
Ama Boatemaa Asamoah and Oliver Kwakye Amoah from Jireh International School in Ashaiman also received their medals on August 2, 2024, for their exceptional performances.
Apiorkor Seyiram Ashong-Abbey, Head of Programmes Production at Channel One TV and Citi FM, praised Felicia’s achievement, noting, “It was a very packed and difficult exam and yet Felicia managed to score between 96 to 84%.
This medal is to show our appreciation and pride in her accomplishment.”
Portia Felice Mensah, the Headmistress of Christ The King International School, expressed confidence in the school’s preparation for the challenge. The school aims to win the trophy this year.
“It is teamwork, and we have been diligently supervising her. We are confident in our preparation and are determined to bring the trophy back home this year,” she said, reassuring the audience about the school’s commitment to quality education.
Cecil Cosmas-Gonzalves, another school student, expressed his disappointment at missing this year’s challenge but remains hopeful for next year. “I am very happy for her. Next year, I will apply, too, so I can get this far,” he said, sharing his disappointment and hope with the audience.
The competition is not over yet. The top ten contestants, including Felicia, will face off in a thrilling quiz on August 17, 2024. The winner will not only receive GH¢10,000 and the trophy but also the ultimate bragging rights.
