Medeama SC let a valuable opportunity slip through their fingers after being held to a tense 1-1 draw by Aduana FC at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Saturday morning.

The Mauve and Yellow appeared poised to tighten their grip on the Ghana Premier League summit, but a dramatic late twist denied them maximum points in a contest stretched across two days due to heavy rainfall. Fridays fixture was halted by persistent downpour, forcing officials to complete the remaining minutes on Saturday morning.

Medeama had seized control earlier in the game when Salim Adams unleashed a thunderous free kick to give the hosts a deserved lead. The spectacular strike electrified the Tarkwa faithful and signaled what looked to be another commanding home performance.

Yet Aduana showed resilience. Seidu Saana struck in the 70th minute to restore parity, setting up a nervy and fiercely contested finale.

The decisive moment arrived with just three minutes remaining after the resumption. Medeama were awarded a clear penalty when Derrick Fordjour was brought down inside the box, presenting captain Yussif Mubarik with a golden chance to secure victory. However, his spot-kick failed to hit the target, leaving the home crowd stunned and Aduana breathing a sigh of relief.

While Medeama remain seven points clear at the top, the draw offers renewed hope to their closest challengers, who now have an opportunity to close the gap in the remaining fixtures.
