The Black Stars of Ghana are set to kick off their first training session today in Accra as they prepare for their opening matches in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The national team is gearing up for a crucial September international break, where they will face Angola and Niger in their quest to secure a spot in the prestigious tournament.
Last Thursday, Ghana’s head coach Otto Addo revealed his squad for the upcoming fixtures, including notable stars such as Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, and Thomas Partey.
This announcement has sparked enthusiasm among fans and players alike, marking the beginning of an important phase in the team’s journey.
By Sunday night, seven of the invited players had already reported to the Black Stars’ camp. These early arrivals include Tariq Lamptey, Joseph Wollacott, Ibrahim Osman, Jonas Adjetey, Antoine Semenyo, Brandon Thomas-Asante, and Frederick Asare.
Additional squad members are expected to join the camp on Monday morning, setting the stage for the first official training session later in the evening under Coach Otto Addo’s watchful eye.
The first training session will be held at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Black Stars will open their campaign with a home match against Angola on Thursday, September 5, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Following this, the team will travel to Niger for their first away game of the qualifiers. These upcoming fixtures are crucial as Ghana aims to make a strong start in the race for AFCON 2025.
