
Carlos QueirozFormer Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has called for support for Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz ahead of the 2026 World Cup.The former Egypt, Iran and Colombia head coach has been handed a four-month deal following the dismissal of Otto Addo in March.Addo was shown the exit after Black Stars’ back-to-back defeats against Austria and Germany in their preparatory games ahead of the Mundial in North America.Speaking to Channel One TV in an interview, Gyan, who remains the country’s all-time top goalscorer, having played in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cups, said Queiroz remains one of the best coaches in the world and must therefore be respected and supported ahead of the tournament.Bringing in a new coach, we shouldnt look down on the coach because he is one of the best coaches when we talk about CVs and everything, he said.Ghana, four-time African champions, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.The Black Stars, making their fifth appearance at the global tournament, will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.The Black Stars will test their readiness against Mexico on May 22 before wrapping up their preparatory games againstWales on June 2 in their final preparatory match before heading to the global tournament.
