Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has eased concerns over the fitness of Antoine Semenyo ahead of Ghana’s Round of 32 clash against Colombia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Bournemouth forward picked up a knock during Ghana’s 2-1 defeat to Croatia in their final Group L match, raising doubts about his availability for Saturday’s knockout encounter.

However, Queiroz has confirmed that the injury is not serious and expects the striker to be fit for the crucial tie.

“No, it’s just a knock; he will be alright,” the Portuguese coach said.

Queiroz also reflected on Ghana’s defeat to Croatia, admitting his side made costly defensive mistakes that proved decisive despite already securing qualification to the knockout stage.

“Croatia scored two goals, two easy goals. Much too easy the way they scored. When you score one more goal than the opponent, you have the merit to win the game.”

“Simple like that. It means we make one more mistake than the opponent, and when you make one more mistake than the opponent, that is it.”

Ghana will face Colombia on Saturday, July 4, as the Black Stars chase a place in the Round of 16 for the first time since the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
