Brazil and Morocco played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in their opening Group C fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at MetLife Stadium.
The Atlas Lions made a bright start and stunned the five-time world champions in the 21st minute when PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ismael Saibari produced a delightful chipped finish to put Morocco ahead.
Brazil responded positively and found their equaliser just 11 minutes later through Vinicius Junior. The Real Madrid winger cut in from the left before unleashing a superb strike that beat the Moroccan goalkeeper to make it 1-1.
Both sides pushed for a winner after the break, but neither could find the decisive goal as the contest ended all square after an entertaining 90 minutes.
The result leaves Group C finely poised, with both nations taking a point from their opening match of the tournament.
Morocco will next face Scotland on June 19 as they look to claim their first victory of the campaign, while Brazil will take on Haiti on June 20 in their second group fixture.
Despite failing to secure all three points, both teams showed enough quality to suggest they will remain strong contenders for a place in the knockout stages.
