Antoine Semenyo

Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has expressed strong belief that the Black Stars are capable of going toe-to-toe with any opponent at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Manchester City forward, speaking in an interview with FIFA, insisted that the global stage would not intimidate him or his teammates, stressing their ambition to prove Ghanas quality against elite nations.

“I don’t think it changes anything for me, but I know that playing against my friends, I want to prove my point,” he said.”I want to show that we are a top nation, we can play together, and we can beat all the top teams,” Semenyo added.

Ghana, four-time African champions, will be making their fifth appearance at the World Cup, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.

Their campaign begins against Panama at BMO Field in Toronto on June 17, before facing England at the Boston Stadium on June 23. They will wrap up their group matches against Croatia at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on June 27.

After consecutive group-stage exits in 2014 and 2022, Ghana will be aiming to progress beyond the group stage this time around and make a deeper run in the tournament.
