Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has stated that he is willing to resign if his departure would provide a solution to the countrys football problems following the Black Stars 4-2 defeat to Gambia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.The veteran Portuguese tactician made the comments after Ghana surrendered a two-goal lead at the Accra Sports Stadium to suffer their second consecutive defeat in Group C on Tuesday.At his post-match press conference, the coach was asked about his future with the team after another disappointing result for the Black Stars.Carlos Queiroz said he would not resist resignation if the Ghana Football Association (GFA) believes it would be the best solution for the national team.If my resignation will be the solution for Ghana football, Id be the first one to resign. But this is a decision Ill leave for the federation,” the coach said.Tuesday’s defeat to The Gambia leaves Ghana without a point from their opening two Group C matches after they also lost 2-0 to Cte dIvoire in their opening qualifier.The Black Stars will now face pressure to recover in their remaining qualifying matches as they seek to secure a place at the 2027 AFCON, having missed the 2025 edition.
