Malik JabirGhana football legend Malik Jabir has questioned Kurt Okrakus reported ambition to seek a third term as president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), arguing that his tenure should be assessed by the trophies won during his time in office.Okraku, who became GFA president in 2019, could remain in the position beyond his current tenure after the association amended its constitution at the 2025 Congress to increase the presidential term limit from two terms to three. However, Jabir has expressed concern about the move, suggesting that repeated changes to term limits raise questions about the priorities of football administrators.Speaking in an interview with Angel FM, the former Asante Kotoko player and coach said success on the pitch should matter more than extending a presidents time in office. What third term? Look, any association that keeps changing its term of office means maybe we are not too serious, he said.Jabir added that Okraku would have received greater support to remain in office had Ghana won major trophies during his tenure.I tell you, if Okraku had won all the cups we need by now, I dont think anybody would want him to go, he said. The veteran football figure also questioned Ghanas failure to secure major silverware, despite repeated changes to the technical teams of the national sides. But he hasnt won even one. Even sometimes its difficult to beat a team with seven coaches. What are we waiting for? he added.Meanwhile, the race to succeed Okraku ahead of the GFA presidential election in 2027 is beginning to take shape.Samuel Annim Addo, Ralph Gyambrah, Elloeny Amande and former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew have expressed interest in contesting the presidency, while George Afriyie is yet to make a decision.
