Ghana’s outgoing President, Nana Akufo-Addo, received a well-deserved standing ovation at the 66th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Heads of State and Government Summit in Abuja.
His commitment to championing democracy in the sub-region, particularly during his smooth transition of power to President-elect John Mahama, was widely praised.
President Akufo-Addo’s impeccable attendance record at all ECOWAS sessions throughout his eight-year tenure as President was also commended.
In recognition of his remarkable contributions to democracy, ECOWAS honoured him with the title “Mr. Democrat,” a testament to his dedication to democratic values.
This prestigious title was bestowed upon him by the Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State, Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
