Accra has signed UNESCO Book Capital Network Charter.
The ceremony took place at the Mayor’s Office today, February 10, 2023. Accra joins 13 cities who have already signed the Charter.
Ian Denison, Global Coordinator of the World Book Capital Programme, describes the signing of the Charter as a physical commitment to work with other world book capital cities who engage in the promotion of reading and literacy.
The Mayor of Accra on her part was grateful for the opportunity for Accra to join the network and promise to use the opportunity to promote reading, tourism and culture.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the Accra World Book Capital, 2023 Management Committee, representatives of the Ministry of Education, Agencies and Book Industry Practitioners.
