In a more proactive way to ensure that, the peaceful coexistence and the religious tolerance beckoned on Ghanaians is not jeopardized for any reason, the Acrossfaiths Foundation has being launched to put together series of dialogues and activities to guard and propagate national unity ahead of the elections.
The organization just as it name states, is made up of leaders and prominent members from the three major religions in Ghana. Their mandate as spelled out during their outdooring ceremony and launch event was to embark on various activities and dialogues that will see Ghanaians continue to live in harmony, before, during and after the election in December, 2024.
In his keynote address, the founder of the Organization, Reverend Ben Kusi expressed how fulfilling it was to wake up every morning and experience the long standing bond between Christians, Muslims and Traditionalists in the country. This he stressed that, forms majority of the reasons why Ghana remains the travel destination for many foreigners because it is rare to experience such things even in the neighboring countries.
Rev. Kusi mentioned that the Acrossfaiths Foundation is committed to bridging the gaps, braking down barriers and forging a global community where everyone is valued for their unique belief and practice. He also emphasized that, the mission of the foundation is to create a space where people can convene and learn from one another and work collectively towards the common goals of the country.
He placed more emphasis on inclusiveness, empathy and education a the key principles that will guide the operations of the organization. These principles he explained that, it will allow people come together to share their stories and experiences to eradicate misconceptions, prejudices and also foster a deeper understanding of the various religions in the country and their practices.
The chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Sultan Nii Nortey Caesar who doubles as the President for the Ga -Dangme Muslims Association in his opening remarks maintained that, the conception of the Acrossfaiths Foundation idea and its formation is very timely as the country prepares to go to polls in December. He entreated that members of the foundation create a safer space with their office and give room for broader conversations and brainstorming of ideas that will Ghana live beyond the 2024 elections.
Alhaji Sultan while commissioning the board of directors and executive members of the organization, admonished that, they help the organization achieve its core mandate and also rise up to the occasion to tell the truth to the face of people who want to perpetuate violence using this upcoming election as a bait.
Members also swore to preach inter religion tolerance and promote peaceful coexistence amongst Ghanaians of different faith before, during and after the December election. The executive members included,Rev. Ben Kusi as Founder, Bishop Emmanuel Borlabi Bortey as President, Chief Alhaji Yussif as Vice President and Mr. Franklin Asare-Donkoh as Communications Director. Others included representatives from the Christian Council, Traditional Councils and the Office of the National Chief Imam.
