The second year student at Adventist Senior High School in Bantama who was shot in the eye,Suzzy Adwoa Pinamang, has arrived in the UK for an emergency surgery.

She landed in the UK today Saturday, May 10, 2025, accompanied by her brother, who is serving as her caregiver.

Rafik Mahama, the special aide to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, is also with them, as he is covering all travel and medical expenses.

This move comes after doctors at both the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi and Agarwal Eye Hospital in Accra determined that Suzzy had sustained severe eye injuries requiring urgent specialist care abroad.

Mr. Ibrahim Mahama’s swift intervention made this possible, relieving Suzzy’s family of financial burdens related to her treatment.

Additionally, Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Harriet Thompson, played crucial roles in facilitating the visa process.

Ablakwa coordinated the necessary visa documentation and directed the Ghana High Commission in the UK to provide Suzzy with special consular assistance during her stay, ensuring she receives the highest level of support.

He confirmed the successful visa and travel arrangements through an official statement on his Facebook page on May 8, 2025.

Suzzy’s surgery is expected to take place in the coming days.
