Badminton officially commenced on Thursday, March 7, 2024, with some expectations falling on the various teams to deliver for their respective countries, particularly Ghana, which is the host nation of the 13th African Games.
The badminton singles event at the Borteyman Sports Complex has been very intense and interesting, as athletes have shown their willingness and determination to make a name for themselves.
Ghana’s badminton team didn’t start well in this year’s badminton singles as they were beaten and knocked out in the singles event, but a collaborative performance in the doubles event saw Leslie Addo and Ebenezer Korampong go through to the quarterfinals of the badminton men’s doubles after beating Burkina Faso’s Mohamadi Ouedraogo and Aboul Fatao Tapsob in straight sets.
Leslie and Ebenezer have already proven in the last 16 stages that teamwork, collaborative effort, and understanding are the keys to getting Ghana moving up the medal table, as team Ghana has yet to win their first medal of this year’s edition of the African Games.
